Have you ever wondered, "Am I getting the most out of life?"; or "Am I in the right line of work?"; or how about "What was she thinking?"; or "Why in the world did he do that?"
Well you're not alone. We're all wired just a little differently, which is what makes human interaction arguably the most difficult experience on the planet.
Working with others who don't think as we think can make "getting the job done" a bit more challenging. Living with people who aren't like us can sometimes make "stress" a household word.
There is help however, and that is exactly why True Colours is being made available.
A few years ago I had the privilege of taking a class called True Colours through a Fortune 500 company which heavily promoted it to all of its employees. As a skeptic of personality-type tests I went in with a bit of a "prove it to me" attitude. By midway through the workshop I was amazed. Not only were the test and examples accurate, but the teaching was practical and applicable to daily life and business. This was valuable!
I began to apply the content I had learned in the workshop to the interactions I faced each day and began to pick up on "the tells" of others about their color spectrums as well. I was able to adapt my communication style to meet the needs of others who were wired a bit differently from me. The success I began experiencing from applying what I learned was inspiring. I began to wish that every new person I met could just introduce themselves with their name and their color spectrum - that would make life so much easier. But, with the workshops being primarily held by a few major corporate networks, it made speaking with people in terms of colors less of an option - until now.
Shortly thereafter I got the opportunity to become a certified True Colours facilitator. I am excited to see the benefits of True Colours come to all people - students, church groups, married couples, office teams, corporate communities, community groups, and so many more.
True Colours will transform the way you define inclusion by cutting across all other lines of diversity (race, gender, age, culture, etc.) and gets straight to the core of who we are as human beings. It provides functional insight to how we think and why we do what we do. Frustration, grudges and incompatibilities melt away as participants gain new eyes into the human temperaments that make up our populations. You will leave the session seeing the world through a new shade of lenses. It’s a skill you will wonder how you managed without.
I had the opportunity to experience True Colors with Jessie Perez this past summer, and the experience was great! Through a series of specific, personality - related questions, I learned so much more about my temperament, as well as the temperament of those that I work with. It helped me to better understand certain "quirks" that my co workers have, as well as what may cause and trigger certain behaviors. Jessie did an excellent job walking our group through each of the colors and our results, and giving practical, relatable examples of how to work with directly opposing personalities. As a leader, I recommend True Colors to managers looking to maximize their organizations, understand conflict resolution better, communicate more effectively with others, and encourage harmony amongst everyone.
I took the True Colours test, and it was one of the most valuable steps I have taken in understanding myself and my relationships with other people.
Before I participated in the workshop, I always had frustrations with my friends and loved ones because I based my expectations of them on how I thought people ‘should’ act, based on how ‘I’ would react.
The workshop helped me understand, in the simplest and most basic way possible, the differences in personality and behavior types. Now, I not only understand myself and my temperaments better, but I can better understand other people and why they act the way they do.
I had taken a bunch of other personality tests before this one, but they were more complicated and left one with an impossible combination of letters to remember. The True Colors workshop deals with four basic colors. It is extremely easy to understand, remember and apply.
I took true colors in 2015 and it has revealed to me a few things about myself. The test itself was simple to understand and the test giver (Jessie) was very patient with all of us. I enjoyed the overall experience because I did not only learn about my tendencies and characteristics but it also helped me to understand how other people think. I think that this information has helped me become more understanding of others and has helped see the reason behind people’s actions. For example, I have had some trouble relating to my mom and certain other people because I didn’t understand them. It turns out that my mom has gold tendencies and I am a strong green (with gold being the lowest of my colors), which has helped me relate and be more understanding with my mom.
What will be your story?
